Catholic Hagonoeño: Looking into the Catholic Heritage of Hagonoy, Bulacan, Philippines is a quarterly electronic magazine which aims at providing quality information, trivia, facts and discussion on the different traditions, practices and teachings of the Catholic faithful of the town and vicariate of Hagonoy, Bulacan to know of the significance of these to their living and faith. This organ serves as an independent organization from the parishes yet works for the preservation of the Catholic cultural heritage of the town and vicariate contained within the parochial communities.

About the Cover Page  - Rev. Msgr. Vicente Amado Bernardo Manlapig, P.C. was born in Sta. Monica, Hagonoy, Bulacan on September 11, 1936. Ordained a priest on December 22, 1962, he is considered as one of the first priests of the diocesan clergy of Malolos. Thus he is now celebrating his 50th year, his Golden Jubilee as a priest which has been significant because of its insertion within the Year of the Golden Jubilee of the Diocese of Malolos. This dedication has also been brought by his Solemn Investiture as Capellano di Sui Santita (Chaplain of His Holiness), a gift from His Holiness, Pope Benedict XVI for his service to Mother Church.

FOREWORD
50 YEARS OF FRUITFUL SERVICE AND MINISTRY FOR THE CHURCH:
Rev. Msgr. Vicente Amado Bernardo Manlapig, P.C.

50 is a special number this year because 50 years ago, a diocese was created from the faithful of the province of Bulacan and the city of Valenzuela. 50 years ago, a new community of grace and faith arose to become followers of Christ's call to holiness. Yet for one of these faithful followers, 50 means more than just that. 50 years would be a special number for him because 50 years ago, he was ordained a priest of the Catholic Church in the newly established diocese for Bulakeños. 50 years ago, he started a ministry that gave way for Christ's light to enter into the hearts of His people. 50 years ago, he became one of the holy men who now form the brotherhood of Hagonoeño priests, the Kapatiran ng Kapariang Taga-Hagonoy, Inc. This Catholic Hagonoeño is none other than Rev. Msgr. Vicente Amado Bernardo Manlapig, P.C., known to many simply as Fr. Teng.

Hailing from the barrio of Sta. Monica in Hagonoy, an area with a great number of priest-sons, he started as a candid youth wanting to get close to Christ. He started participating in the parish as a young boy until he was inspired to follow the path less travelled. Then until now, he would remember that moment for if what he had experienced as a boy in Hagonoy, he would not have been who he is today.

Thus it is in the light of this special celebration in the life of this esteemed man of God, so humble and so hardworking, that we dedicate this special issue in his honor. This issue comprises greetings from people who have been involved in his life: his superiors, his fellow priests and his friends and relatives. Also included here are testimonials, accounts of how this priest has shaped and formed souls to bring them to Christ.

His years in the ministry have been acknowledged by the Holy Father by a remakable gift. In his 50 years as a priest, he is to be given by the Holy See the rank of Monsignor with the title Capellano di Sui Santita (“Chaplain of His Holiness” - P.C.) Despite it being given by the time he retires from parish work this year, it is still a sign of a Church that does not forget its priests. May Fr. Teng in his many years as a man of God continue to be able to inspire more Hagonoeños to take up the road less travelled, the road to Christ's priesthood.

Gratia vobiscum!
