MESSAGES/ MGA MENSAHE:

DAMBANA AT PANANAMPALATAYA:
A SIGNIFICANT EVENT

Greetings of Peace!

The continuity of the online publication DAMBANA AT PANANAMPALATAYA: AN OFFICIAL ONLINE MAGAZINE OF THE VICARIATE OF ST. ANNE – DIOCESE OF MALOLOS, which was formerly known as CATHOLIC HAGONOEÑO: LOOKING INTO THE CATHOLIC HERITAGE OF HAGONOY, BULACAN, PHILIPPINES is a significant event, for it is literally a wave of the future that is already here. First of all, it is an undertaking by the youth by young men and women from the Vicariate of Hagonoy, the future of our people, who remarkably possess already and so early proactive love for their communities forming the vicariate. Theirs is a respect for and sensitivity to the Catholic and cultural heritage they have been blessed with. And they are determined that such a gift be not lost but rather treasured, enriched and shared with the larger public. Secondly, in harmony with the young people the world over they see the possibility and challenge that the social network provides humankind today. The young ones are born into a world without borders, a world of instant and universal communication. Typically, the youth of the Vicariate of Hagonoy daring to do a labor of love with an online religious and cultural publication, sees the not so much the difficulty, in their undertaking to contribute what they can in the preservation and propagation of their religious heritage. They are responding to the call to utilize the social media in the task of evangelization, by sharing the Christian kerygma in the lines and forms of our Filipino-Bulakeño-Hagonoeño-Paombongeño-Calumpiteño history and culture.

Auspiciously, DAMBANA AT PANANMAPALATAYA went online two years ago as CATHOLIC HAGONOEÑO while the Diocese of Malolos celebrated its Golden Jubilee as a Local Church. We marvel and give thanks to God at the amazing transforming grace we have received these past fifty years as God's people, even as we pray and hope for our unwavering faith in response to God’s unmerited gifts.

Now it has been more inclusive as the Vicariate of St. Anne added the parishes of the town of Paombong to its jurisdiction and with the Parish of St. Joseph the Worker, a parish under the Vicariate since its establishment. With a NEW NAME and NEW SCOPE, its has expanded its service to the Vicariate after two years of its ongoing development. It is truly a blessing for us to have this for our faithful.

May DAMBANA AT PANANAMPALATAYA prosper in this dynamic of God's grace summoning our generous answer of faith to the divine initiative. As I congratulate everyone of the team behind this endeavor, I pray that they may all experience the fulfilling joy of standing up for their Catholic faith.

Sta. Ana de Hagonoy, pray for us!

Forward in the power of the Holy Spirit!

THE VISION OF AN ONLINE TREASURY,
A WORK OF LOVE

Greetings of peace and goodwill!

History provides us with a look into the past and current news provides us with a look into the present. Both things converge with the use of technology to reveal what the past wants to teach us and what the present can do better or sustain. This is what this group has strived to do for the years in this online magazine - to connect the Catholic faithful of the the Vicariate of St. Anne, composed of the six parishes of Hagonoy, the two parishes of Paombong and the Parish of San Jose Manggagawa in Calumpit with the information of both the past and the present.

The vision for this publication was to be a beacon for the guidance of all those who wish to know from its contents. This is why we, the Commission on Social Communications - Vicariate of St. Anne continue to provide material and research to fill this information treasury and see that the things that we do to keep our faith should be cherished. Yet it not only serves the past, but also the present. This is why we look through both doors - the past and the present. Information has been with us both then and now so that it it can deliver us to good tidings. All of this and what we have received to continue this service is truly God's grace.

So we dedicate this endeavor, this vicarial online magazine as a work of love dedicated to let the burning flame of our faith alive here in the Vicariate of St. Anne. In 2011, we only cover a handful of parishes within Hagonoy. Now with the inclusion of San Jose, Calumpit and Paombong, we have welcomed them with creating a new name which we now hold on to - from Catholic Hagonoeño: Looking into the Catholic Heritage of Hagonoy, Bulacan, Philippines to Dambana at Pananamapalataya: An Official Online Magazine of the Vicariate of St. Anne - Diocese of Malolos. All of these present a work of love, perseveringly sewn into a fabric of memories to be seen and known by believers.

May this website continue to flourish for the faith of the people and for the love of Jesus Christ. May the mothers of this vicariate, Apo Ana and Niña Maria of Hagonoy pray for us and continue to lead us to the Christ.

Sufficit gratia tua!

HISTORY OF THE COMMISSION:

The Commission on Social Communications – Vicariate of St. Anne started as a research group entitled Catholic Hagonoeño Social Communications Group. It started as an initiative among online enthusiasts on the cultural heritage of the town of Hagonoy, Bulacan. It began through the creation of the website publication entitled Catholic Hagonoeño: Looking into the Catholic Heritage of Hagonoy, Bulacan, Philippines (www.catholichagonoeno.blogspot.com) with eight contributors and Sem. Kendrick Ivan B. Panganiban as Website Administrator. During its first seven (7) months online, the group was able to produce 19 articles (See Documentation: 2011Archives) concerning the cultural heritage, expressions of devotion and historical insights on the faith-life of the people of Hagonoy. Thus, in its initial stages, the group had representatives from the six (6) parishes of the town: the National Shrine and Parish of St. Anne (Sto. Niño, Hagonoy, Bulacan), the Parish of Nuestra Señora del Santissimo Rosario (Sto. Rosario, Hagonoy, Bulacan), the Parish of St. Helena the Empress (Sta. Elena, Hagonoy, Bulacan), the Parish of St. John the Baptist (San Juan, Hagonoy, Bulacan), the Parish of St. Anthony of Padua (Iba, Hagonoy, Bulacan) and the Parish of Ina ng Laging Saklolo (San Pedro, Hagonoy, Bulacan).

In 2012, the publication aimed to form a full-time online publication which would involve an editorial staff and contributing staff. In a forged agreement, Rev. Msgr. Sabino A. Vengco, Jr., H.P., long-time seminary professor and current Chairman of the Msgr. Jose B. Aguinaldo Foundation, Inc. (MJBA); a foundation aimed to providing aid to education of the Catholic faithful) and Sem. Kendrick Ivan B. Panganiban were able to form a competent editorial staff. In this agreement, the MJBA would provide funds for the research group for major projects to be documented and submitted to the foundation. Msgr. Vengco served as Moderator of the online magazine and he acts an adviser, together with Rev. Fr. Reynaldo V. Rivera, then Vicar Forane of the vicariate and Rev. Msgr. Luciano C. Balagtas, P.C., Rector of the National Shrine of St. Anne also acting as advisers. The staff was composed of Sem. Kendrick Ivan B. Panganiban as Editor-in-Chief with seven (7) editors and contributors from the six parishes in Hagonoy.

The plan for the 2012 circulation year was four (4) quarters, for which four (4) online issues are to be made with an availability for special issues. In the first half of the publication’s circulation the group produced two online issues (See Catholic Hagonoeño, Vol. 1, Issue 1, March 2012 and Issue 2, June 2012). In the second half of the circulation year, the group produced two regular online issues (See Catholic Hagonoeño, Vol. 1, Issue 3, September 2012 and Issue 4, December 2012) and one (1) special issue (See Catholic Hagonoeño, Vol. 1, Special Issue, December 2012)

On July 30, 2012, the parishes of the town of Paombong were ceded to the Vicariate of St. Anne, enlisting three (3) parishes outside Hagonoy for the vicariate: the Parish of St. Joseph the Worker (San Jose, Calumpit, Bulacan) (which has been in the Vicariate since 1951), the Parish of St. James the Apostle (Poblacion, Paombong, Bulacan) and the Mission Parish of Sta. Cruz. With this, the group now aimed to cover all the nine parishes of the vicariate and that year, six of the nine parishes had an active group contributing in the website. In this latter part of the year, the five issues were circulated and promoted in social media, especially in Facebook where the site has an official Facebook page. Through this page, the group has formed a coalition with ten media partners (Facebook pages for parish communities within the vicariate) to cover an extensive number of online readers. Together with the site itself are two others that are maintained by the same group: the Official Online Directory of the Vicariate of St. Anne (www.vicariatestaanahagonoy.blogspot.com) and the Kapatiran ng Kapariang Taga-Hagonoy, Inc. Priests Directory (www.kakatha.blogspot.com) which concerns news and updates on the priests from the town of Hagonoy, Bulacan. These sites form part of the expanded network proposed and signed by the staff and the advisers last July 16, 2012.

In the circulation year for 2013, the group decided to produce three periods, forming the three tri-annual online issues (See Catholic Hagonoeño, Vol. 2, Issue 1, April 2013; Issue 2, August 2013 and Issue 3, December 2013) and two (2) special issues (See Catholic Hagonoeño, Vol. 2, Special Issue 1, June 2013 and Special Issue 2, October 2013). It was also in this year that the Diocesan Commission on Social Communications (Diocesan COSC), during the chairmanship of Rev. Fr. Dario V. Cabral, recognized the Catholic Hagonoeño Social Communications Group as a fully operational commission in the Vicariate of St. Anne. This was declared in front of the working teams of the group on May 12, 2013, Ascension Sunday and World Communications Sunday. Upon this declaration, this commission has been considered as the first, and at present the only vicarial commission on social communications within the Diocese of Malolos. This fact was acknowledged during the Diocesan COSC last May 25, 2013. Up to the present, the Commission on Social Communications – Vicariate of St. Anne continues to conduct regular meetings (three times a year, with the Annual Evaluation and Planning on December) to update the groups as well as to provide seminars the staff members.

Brought by the plan for the inclusion of the parishes of Paombong and Calumpit into the group, Rev. Fr. Candido D. Pobre, Jr. Vicar Forane of the Vicariate of St. Anne and Rev. Msgr. Sabino A. Vengco, Jr., H.P. suggested to change the publication name. On March 2014, the group decided to have the name Dambana at Pananampalataya: An Official Online Magazine of the Vicariate of St. Anne - Diocese of Malolos which served as a more inclusive and more complete name for the publication. It was able to use the new name on its April 2014 1st Tri-annual Issue and will continue to use it for the other issues for 2014.
